This is an in-house position at our office located in Tucson, Arizona.

Summary of Responsibilities

The Controller is responsible for the daily financial operations of the firm, which includes all bookkeeping and accounting tasks, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, client invoicing and ecommerce sales and tax reporting. The Controller works closely with, and under the supervision of management. The Controller also works regularly with rest of the firm s employees, and supports them so that the firm s finances are well organized, accurate, and easy to understand. Finally, the Controller provides higher-level, strategic support to the Firm through budgeting, reporting, and analysis. The Controller also assists with payroll related functions such as insurance policies and compliance.

Essential Functions

- Develop and maintain proficiency in all the information systems and databases, both internal and external, that must be used to properly perform the duties of this position.

- Accounts Receivable: entry of all accounts receivable, invoice preparation (paper, email, electronic); monthly management reports, including but not limited to accounts receivable aging, timekeeper activity reports, payments/adjustments, and other reports.

- Accounts Payable Management: entry of all accounts payable; preparation of checks for signature and payment of bills (or through bill.com as appropriate); general ledger entry; cash management reports; establishment of cash management plan and assistance monitoring cash balances and liabilities due; year-end 1099 preparation for vendors.

- Payroll: responsible for collecting timesheets for non-salaried workers each week, running payroll twice a month, and preparation of all required tax reports.

- Bookkeeping/Accounting: Comprehensive general ledger accounting; bank account reconciliation (all accounts); monthly close and financial statements and other management reports; communication, submission of required reports to financial institutions; communication, coordination with law firm s external accounting firm.

- Prepare reporting related to sales tax and online sales.

- Royalty report auditing and reconciliation.

- Client Service: Work directly with clients, when necessary, to effectively answer questions pertaining to the financial status of their accounts. The Controller, like all employees, will be responsible for delivering gold standard client service.

- Work with management to develop, revise, and implement strategic budgeting

- Develop systems and procedures, in consultation with management and the firm s administrative personnel, to maximize efficiency, client value, and profitability.

- Work on special financial-related projects, at the direction of management, such as the preparation of financial forecasting models and alternative budgeting proposals, and provide regular input and reports to management

Education and Experience

- Accounting Skills: Three years accounting required. Preference given to candidates with either a Bachelors/Associate degree in Accounting or five years of professional services accounting and supervisory experience.

- Mathematical And Writing Skills: Strong understanding of accounting theory and practice. Accuracy and attention to detail in daily work. Must be able to write well in a business style consistent with the company s image.

- Technical Skills: Computer literate with knowledge of automated accounting systems. Must have proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, work independently and meet deadlines required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
