EDIS Description: The Engineering, Development, Integration and Sustainment (EDIS) contract is for Contract Support Services (CSS) providing engineering, development, integration, test, and sustainment
of the Research and Development Space and Missile Operations (RDSMO) program Ground
System Enterprise (GSE) in support of the United States Space Force (USSF) and Space Systems Command (SSC to look at how to make the nation’s national security space enterprise more resilient. The SSC Innovation and Prototyping Directorate (SSC/SZI) at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM,
supports the USSF RDSMO program requirements. The SSC/SZI mission is to operate and sustain an affordable GSE for R&D and demonstration missions; to develop innovative solutions to reduce Operations & Maintenance costs; to provide a test bed to prove out emerging concepts; to build and support ground system instantiations, to integrate operational missions (major weapon systems) into the GSE, to integrate and sustain cyber defense, and to remain a viable choice for all new ground satellite operations command and control. In addition, SSC/SZI operates experimental and demonstration satellites, and fixed and mobile satellite ground systems. SSC/SZI provides a collaborative partnership between developmental, test and operational
units to seamlessly develop and rapidly field new capabilities, standardize satellite operations
and exploit core competencies/strengths. SSC/SZI coordinates with SSC/SDTF to support the SSC
and EGS initiatives, as well as other Department of Defense (DoD) activities. As initial
capabilities are demonstrated for operational missions, those capabilities are expected to transfer
to operational sustainment processes, procedures, and funding lines. The SSC/SZI vision is to
create an innovative and collaborative R&D/demo GSE for use in all USSF R&D/demo
missions as well as all future operational ground programs under the EGS and SSC initiatives.
SSC/SZI is the USSF focal point and center of expertise for DoD experimental and
demonstration space and missile operations supporting space and missile R&D efforts and
conducting space and missile Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) and Initial
Operational Test and Evaluation (IOT&E) activities. BAE Systems seeks a highly experienced and energetic Configuration Analyst to support the US Space Force, Space Systems Command, in performing operational maintenance and sustainment of satellite ground systems. The selected candidate will work with stakeholders to maintain configuration control of system requirements, model-based system engineering artifacts and system interfaces. The candidate selected for this position will:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams in the performance of Configuration Management (CM) tasks and in the execution of configuration control.
  • Support engineering and governance boards, forums, and activities impacting system baselines.
  • Analyze, update, and maintain technical baselines in Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Microsoft SharePoint in support of interoperability, integration of IT services/systems, and IT governance for the customer and the contract program.
  • Lead and support configuration change tracking and documentation control; efforts include (but are not limited to) concepts of operation, requirements identification and documentation.
Primary duties include:
  • Plan, identify, control, monitor and verify activities to achieve control of the IT system functional and physical asset CIs
  • Quality data management of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) by ensuring that CIs are recorded from receipt to disposal, attributes and relationships are properly maintained
  • Work discrepancy report tickets daily. Complete actions in support of change requests to create or update CIs and ensure attribute data and relationships to other CIs are accurate. Reviewing incident records requesting CMDB updates, preparing respective change records to coordinate and implementing the update activity
  • Identify and implement continual service improvement of the asset and configuration management processes and procedures based on ITIL V4 framework
  • Work closely with organizational stakeholders to ensure the proper configuration standards for hardware, software, and documentation assets
  • Implement the configuration management processes and procedures according to the Enterprise Configuration Management SOP
  • Review released engineering change requests and data to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policies.
  • Plan and conduct physical and functional audits utilizing various methods of inspection
  • Document audit results and ensure corrective actions to resolve discrepancies are completed
  • Prepare deviations and waivers for government approval when specifications cannot be met
  • Review all issued document change requests, document change notices and associated drawings for accuracy, completeness and proper signatures
  • Submit engineering changes to customers for review and approval; maintain records and submit reports regarding status
  • Prepare configuration verification audit record sheets for all programs
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical field and 9 years of experience; Master’s degree and 7 years of experience
  • Active DoD Top Secret or DOE Q clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI
  • Experience documenting and tracking all aspects of hardware and/or software development and modifications.
  • Experience with reviewing design release documents for completeness and proper authorizations.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining configuration verification audit record sheets for all programs.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft SharePoint
