The Benefits Specialist is responsible for ensuring the coordination of benefits enrollment and associate support for benefit-related matters, maintaining employee benefit information in the HRIS system, and managing self-funded monthly benefit premium remittance processes.  The Benefits Specialist will also partner with key stakeholders in the successful integration of new associates during new business implementations.

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for providing back up support and relief to the HR Leave of Absence Specialist.

Location: This role is eligible for primarily remote based work in the Eastern & Central time zones of the continental United States, with close proximity to a major airport. Candidates must have the ability to travel as necessary for business to conferences, seminars, meetings & trainings, etc., including to our Indianapolis, Indiana Central Office.

Responsibilities

Benefits Administration:

  • Prepare monthly benefits invoicing for approval and payment
  • Assist in resolving file feed and other vendor-related issues
  • Assist in preparation of annual enrollment and other associate communications
  • Manage Evidence of Insurability process
  • Assist with 401K files, ensuring correct payroll deductions/contributions
  • Develop and maintain benefits processes and procedures

Associate Assistance:

  • Assist associates with questions pertaining to benefits
  • Manage request ticketing system to ensure appropriate response rates

HR Compliance and Other

  • Ensure security of PHI/PII with respect to associate records
  • Access and provide all information when 401K audit is taking place promptly upon request
  • Conduct process to obtain missing information, including follow up with associate and manager
  • Support the Compensation, Benefits, & HRIS team on compliance-related projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • Experience administering benefit programs preferred.
  • Experience with Workday Benefits Administration system and processes a plus.
  • Previous knowledge and experience with leave administration preferred.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of administrative processes, HR terminology and processes required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time amidst multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work comfortably with higher management.

Education and Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in HR, business, or a related field required.  Bachelors degree preferred.
