This position is eligible for quarterly bonuses under Rarebreed s profit-sharing program, and a significant shift differential for all overnight shifts!

Maine Veterinary Medical Center is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join their team on the overnight rotation! The right candidate will have 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital, strong clinical skills, a detail-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills, and a desire to build a stronger team. Key Responsibilities:

· Compassionately, calmly and gently handle patients in our care

· Speaking to clients in a friendly, helpful manner to answer questions, acquire histories, etc.

· Assisting in surgeries and advanced imaging procedures

· Anesthetic induction, monitoring, maintenance and recovery for anesthetic procedures

· Utilizing practice management software to maintain client and patient records

· Providing safe restraint for patients during examinations and procedures

· Interpreting and following through on treatment sheet orders

· Implementing appropriate animal husbandry skills to decrease disease spread, injury and stress to patients

· Venipuncture, IV catheter placement etc

· Recognizing normal physical examination parameters on canine and feline patients

· Noticing and documenting changes in patient attitude, abnormal behavior and changes in condition

· Calculating medication and fluid doses for administration to hospitalized patients

· Carrying out or setting up procedures that do not require veterinarian assistance

· Assisting with other areas of service during downtime or as directed by supervisor

· Excellent communication and customer service skills

· Ability to handle stressful or emergent situations in a calm and supportive manner




Requirements:

· Two years experience in a veterinary hospital

· Veterinary Technician License in Maine or active license from another state that qualifies you to be eligible for licensing in Maine

· Proficient in anesthetic induction, monitoring, maintenance, and recovery

· Availability for overnight and weekend shifts

· Self-motivated and team-oriented

· Friendly and compassionate

· Professional and organized

· Ability to multi-task

· Ability to lift 50 pounds
