Optimization & Measurement System Technician

The optimization & measurement system tech is responsible for oversight of Process Control and Optimization systems. Utilizing his/her technical expertise the incumbent will assist Mill personnel with respect to maximizing process equipment efficiencies, leveraging, and servicing optimizing technology, Comact SLI & TBL, Lewis Ready Scan II, USNR Bioluma(s), MicroTec, Lucidyne, and SIcam System.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maximize product value and resource utilization through effective use and management of optimizers.
- Work with manufacturing operations personnel with the identification and implementation strategies to optimize process equipment.
- With the approval, perform necessary changes to achieve optimal process equipment efficiency.
- Provide instruction and assistance to manufacturing operations personnel on achieving and maintaining optimal operating conditions for process equipment.
- Stay current with sawmill process control innovations and treads and interface regularly with industry counterparts to ensure standards and best practices are adhered
- Ensure compliance with work specifications, regulatory and quality standards.
- Inspect and audit processes, equipment manufacturing processes, material, and product quality.
- Perform all administrative tasks (reports: production, maintenance, health and safety, performance, training, transfer of personnel, environment, etc.)
Key Qualifications:
- Advanced computer and data analytical skills (i.e. MS Word and Excel, drafting and trending analysis).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- A self-motivated individual who will work towards Safety & Reliability Excellence.
- Good working knowledge of sawmill and planer mill equipment; engineering background is a plus.
- Ability to travel to attend training courses.
- Strong understanding of process improvement.
- Flexibility in scheduling.
- 2-5 Years relevant experience
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a combination of an Associate's degree in Technical Trades and related work experience.
