As a Siding Carpenter, you play an integral role in creating quality apartments for our residents to call home for years to come. You will work with our team in new construction, building apartments from the ground up. To be successful in this role you must be reliable, detail-oriented, and communicate effectively.
From Apprentice 1 through Journeyman, we paid:
Journeyman - $40.00/hr.
Apprentice 4 - $37.00/hr.
Apprentice 3 - $33.00/hr.
Apprentice 2 - $28.00/hr.
Apprentice 1 - $23.00/hr.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.
Siding
Accurately measure, cut, and shape lumber, wood, and other building materials
Install siding materials such as wood, aluminum, or fiber cement boards
Install roof vents, flashing, and other components to ensure water or other weathering does not penetrate walls or cause damage to the structure
Install windows and doors
Measure and cut siding materials to fit around windows and doors
Install insulation and vapor barrier materials on exterior walls
Ability to square up a foundation
Ability to install Tyvek to manufacturer specifications
Ability to level and start a course of lap siding, as well as, maintaining elevation around a building
Examine building materials to identify any defects
Install exterior siding, soffit, & fascia
Analyze blueprints & drawings to determine structural dimensions of framework to be constructed
General
Perform carpentry duties, including both rough and finish carpentry
Set and/or frame floor and roof trusses
Layout walls & build stairs
Erect temporary structures such as scaffolds and hoists
Operate and care for construction equipment and machines
Assist equipment operator, and other skilled labor when necessary
Ensure team has secured job site, tools, and materials at end of each day
Stay current on safety standards and procedures, communicate to team, & ensure compliance
Requirements
Experience
6+ months of experience in roofing, manufacturing, or warehousing
Proficient in using tools such as saws, sanders, drills, planers, etc.
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift 50-75 pounds as needed
Comfortable with ladders & heights
Framing and siding experience/knowledge, and be familiar with E.I.F.S. (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems).
Other Requirements
Must pass a criminal background check
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with proper insurance
Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
