Manufacturing/Assembly Group Leader (739626)

This is a hands-on working lead position within the Diagnostics Assembly department. Aid and assist supervisor in establishing and maintaining a productive and efficient departmental operation through the movement of personnel to cover gaps in production process. Responsible for the identification of resources and materials needed to meet daily production standards. With supervisor approval can move materials equipment and people in order meet production targets.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute the planning and establish work schedules, assignments, and production processes to meet the production schedule.
  • Perform all types of assembly work as required per approved procedures. Processes include, but are not limited to liquid dispensing, labeling, device assembly, kitting, solution preparation and equipment operation.
  • Ensure that all assemblies are manufactured to meet the required delivery or production dates; notifies Manager and others required of any delays
  • Works with Manager to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and to create solutions to complex problems
  • Recommend and/or implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and/or efficiency
  • Generate and maintain production related records including quality records, as required; including revising, reviewing or writing standard operating procedures.
  • Supervisor or Designee are informed all time for any deviation in process that might affect product performance and their quality. Those imply but not limited to problems with the material, parts, components, products, equipment, machinery or tools that are affecting or may adversely affect the quality and quantity of work.
  • Responsible for the proper use, handling and documentation of materials, parts, and components for manufacturing products; including inventory accuracy.
  • Responsible for the proper use and handling of machinery, equipment and tools.
  • Assist in supervising, coaching, and motivating department employees
  • Responsible for properly completing and record information about their daily production, materials, parts, waste product ("scrap"), as applicable, and others as required.
  • Responsible for keeping common usage and work areas clean, uncluttered while using proper segregation of materials.
  • Performs other tasks within the work area, as instructed by the Supervisor or Designee.

Expected Areas of Competence

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integer s numbers.
  • Possess basic computer skills.
  • Ability to understand written manufacturing instructions (e.g. SOP s, GMP's, WI's).
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and measuring devices used within the unit, such as scales, micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • High manual skills and the ability to follow instructions consistently required.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Graduate, or equivalent, at an accredited institution. Vocational High School desirable.
  • 5 years of prior industry experience. Experience in a GMP/GLP facility preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.

  • Repetitive manual assembly of materials is required.
  • The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, sitting and carrying items weighing up 50 pounds.
