ABOUT THE POSITION


Supports the Controller in directing financial and accounting activities of the company by performing the following duties personally or through departmental associates.


Key Deliverables


  • Prepare and consolidate financial statements.

  • Establish and maintain internal controls.

  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger.

  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses

  • Coordinate or assist with the budget process.



Key Activities & Responsibilities


  • Responsible for summarizing and analyzing financial activity and position in a clear manner and communicate with management regarding financial performance.

  • Direct preparation of budgets and forecasts, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.

  • Arrange and participate in audits of company financial statements.

  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies, including sales tax returns.

  • Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving the organization s accounting operation.

  • Collect and prepare data to assist the company or corporate with federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.

  • Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, sales commissions, taxes, insurance, and other deductions to be withheld along with associate identification number from computer time sheets, company deduction forms and other records.

  • Enters data into computer files on wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.

  • Oversees wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.

  • Oversees changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.

  • Responsible for ensuring data concerning transfers of associates between departments, promotions, job title changes, address changes, etc.

  • Reconciles all invoices ensuring accurate data is used for charge purposes, interacting with company associates and vendors to ensure proper accountability.

  • Monitors and tracks 401(k) deductions for payroll purposes, working with the 401(k) administrative company.

  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.

  • Oversees payroll department records of vacations, vacation pay and other benefit deductions.

  • Coordinates with company auditors yearly, or as needed.

  • Files all payroll tax returns and sales tax returns.

  • Follow company policies and procedures at all times.

  • Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:


  • 4-year degree in accounting required, CPA preferred.

  • 5+ years manufacturing accounting experience required.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects required.

  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.

  • Computer experience, including MS Office products and fully integrated ERP systems required.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to gather information from various people and sources within the company required.

  • Must be able to work well as a member of a team.

  • Ability to be very detail oriented, especially when preparing reports or reporting financial and accounting information required.

  • Computer skills to include Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Cognos and E9.

  • Ability to supervise departmental associates including policy and rule enforcement, performance appraisals, conflict resolution, scheduling, etc.

  • Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements.



Supervisor and Leadership Expectations


General Accountant, Invoicing Coordinator, Payroll on a regular basis. May supervise the Accounting Department in the absence of the Controller.
