Job Description
BAE Systems, Inc is looking for a highly motivated Operations Program Manager to join the New Product Introduction - Operational Excellence team, which is a shared service organization for Operations. This individual will support the Navigation and Sensor Solutions (NSS) product line, which is a rapidly growing portfolio of current and next generation advanced military navigation systems based in the greater Cedar Rapids, Iowa area.

This position is responsible to lead the successful transition of new product to standard production through a partnership with the Program Office, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams. Qualified candidates will be well versed in multiple Operations disciplines, familiar with life-cycle product development processes, capable of managing tasks and projects of high complexity, able to operate effectively in a fast paced environment balancing multiple priorities, capable of building strong relationships and interfacing with diverse teams, comfortable reporting out on program status, and proficient in the use of ERP systems.

Responsibilities of this role:
  • Provide a critical base of knowledge and expertise for the development of highly manufacturable and maintainable products
  • Acts as the primary Operations focal (Program Manager) for all Operations content on new development programs that have a planned transition to Operations
  • Partnering and collaborating with Program Office, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain throughout the product life cycle
  • Strategic development and execution of New Product Introduction processes and procedures
  • Applies improvement strategies across multiple programs
  • Provides active support and strategic solutions to Design to Unit Production Cost (DTUPC), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Test (DFT)
  • Understands cost drivers and how to mitigate them inclusive of test yield, manufacturing yield, scrap, etc.
  • Responsible to manage Operations cost and schedule performance for new development build and deliveries
  • Leading development teams through Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Manufacturing Feasibility Assessments, and coordinating actions/mitigation plans in accordance with AS9145
  • Develops process improvement opportunities to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness
  • Leads process, materials, and logistics problem resolution to ensure availability of materials and smooth operations
  • Directs and coordinates sequencing of work in partnership with Manufacturing, such as build and delivery, to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of resources
  • Partners with internal customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ensures quality, cost, schedule, and inventory goals are achieved in a manner consistent with the overall business plan
  • Manages operations risk and opportunities register
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor degree in appropriate discipline and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced degree in related field and minimum of 1 years of experience OR
  • In absence of degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required
  • Ability to obtain Secret Level Security Clearance
  • Electronics Manufacturing experience
  • Experience leading and supporting early life product and process development cycles
  • Must be a team player and be comfortable in a multi-task and task switching environment
  • Clear communicator with ability to generate and deliver messages to diverse audiences
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Suite of Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, etc)
  • Experience with ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle)


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • STEM degree preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of building strong working relationships at all levels, across functions and geographic boundaries
  • Lean manufacturing and process improvement experience
  • Experience leading diverse teams in an Operations environment
  • Familiarity with AS9145
  • Demonstrated change agent furthering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive work environments
