Position Overview:



The position of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is primarily responsible for providing direct patient care and assisting the provider with patient care. The LPN obtains patient information and records it in the patient record. In addition, the position performs vital sign checks, EKG testing, assistance with examinations, pacemaker checks, and administers EECP therapy. The LPN are responsible for medical supplies and the readiness of the examination rooms.



Essential Functions
:



Clinical:


a) Prepares patients for exams, takes vital signs and measures height and weights.


b) Performs vision and auditory screening as needed.


c) Administers medications by order of provider including injections and immunizations.


d) Assists with exams and procedures.


e) Prepares and equips exam rooms with supplies.


f) Sterilizes instruments and suture sets.


g) Monitors urgent care room equipment and stocks supplies.



Laboratory:


a) Draws blood, collects specimens, and performs on-site procedures.


b) Processes specimens to be sent to outside laboratory.


c) Orders laboratory supplies.


d) Monitors and/or maintains laboratory results.



Physical Demands and Working Conditions:



Physical Demands: Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods. Fine motor skills. Visual acuity.



Qualifications & Skills:

a) Education: Graduate of an approved training program for Licensed Practical Nurses/Medical Assistants. Medical Assistant certificate or current LPN license. BCLS on hire. PALS, ACLS within 9 months of hire.



b) Training & Experience: One to three years in a comparative healthcare setting.



c) Job Knowledge: Encompasses a wide range of nursing, psycho-social and medical information which includes nursing process, communications and problem-solving, assessment and prioritizing skills.
